MEMORANDUM
TO THE PUBLIC
December 06, 2007
It has been some time between my memorandums to the public. Since my previous memo, we have adopted a new Master Plan and are working to potentially revise portions of the zoning ordinance to carry out the strategies within the Plan. Primary changes include the expansion of future commercial area along Lake Michigan Drive from our eastern border to approximately ¼ mile west of 8th Avenue.
In addition, in conjunction with the recent municipal sewer expansion, we have expanded the residential area for our greater density zoning district. Also, our Utility Service Boundary has been dramatically reduced to encourage and ultimately require investment in the current system, thereby limiting the extension of growth, which better controls our community’s expansion. Stop by anytime to see what your community adopted.
As always, make sure to check back with us often to see what else is new!
PLANNING
The Zoning regulations are created to insure property
within the Township is developed in accordance with
the Planning and "vision" of the Township
as adopted by the Planning Commission.
The
Planning Commission reviews the Master Land Use Plan
every five years or so. The Master Land Use Plan is
created using input from Township citizens compiled
from various sources including, surveys and public hearings.
The comments are then documented and used to create
the Master Land Use Plan. The Plan identifies goals
and objectives for residential development and the future
use of possible creative development techniques such
as cluster development or open space development and
Mixed Use Planned Unit Developments.
The
current Tallmadge Township Master Land Use Plan was
adopted in 1999.
